“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9).

God’s ways are the very opposite of our natural inclinations. This is especially true in the area of human relationships; and the reason why He has detailed His principles of life in the Scriptures.

God wants us to choose our friendships not for what they can do for us, but on the basis of what we can do for them. Many people accumulate friends with the idea that those friendships will benefit them in some way or at least in some mutual way. Some enterprising sales men will keep a growing contact list knowing that the laws of probability will work in their favor and they will eventually make a sale.

But God wants us to have a radically different perspective of the people that He has brought into our lives. He wants us to view each individual not as a means to benefit our own selfish cause, but as those He wants us to serve and pour our lives into for His glory. This begins, of course, with those in our own family. Even the Christian husband who is to lead his family is to do so with a servant’s heart.

Jesus demonstrated that the way to true success is found not by using people but by serving them. Paul says, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant…” (Philippians 2:5-7).

This is the reason that men should always go for those foods which purchase generic levitra are well known as sex booster. Clinical trials have examined the effects of acupuncture on anxiety. price tadalafil tablets It is a perfect health tonic for rejuvenating your sildenafil tablets 100mg health. viagra wholesale An important part of link building is to create a diverse link profile. Jesus said in Matthew 23:11, “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.” Again in Luke 14:11 Jesus says, “For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” True success in life is achieved by humility and by serving those that God has brought into your life beginning with those in your own family.

Think of the people that God brings into your life every single day. These are the individuals that God wants you to serve and pour your life into. Begin your day by asking the Lord to show you ways that you can serve your family and the others that He will bring your way.

“And now, little children, abide in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming” (1 John 2:28).

A respected businessman was asked the secret of his success. “Three things contributed to my success,” said the man. “First, I always treated people fairly. Second, I always offered a fair price. And third, my Aunt Edna died a few years back and left me two and a half million dollars.”

We all want to be successful. The trouble is that we all have different ideas of what success in life really is. The Bible makes it clear that success begins with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, the Bible describes you as “…having no hope, and without God in the world” (Ephesians 2:12). If you are not a Christian, you may have a good, well-paying job with excellent prospects for promotion; but your life will amount to nothing of any eternal value. The way to success begins by recognizing that you are a sinner and that you are totally dependent upon the Person and work of Jesus Christ for salvation (Luke 18:13-14).

Just being a Christian, however, does not guarantee a life of success. Accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior assures us that we will escape the judgment of Hell (Revelation 20:15), but it does not guarantee that we will hear the Lord say to us the words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant…” (Matthew 25:21). Many Christians – perhaps the vast majority – will “…be ashamed before Him at His coming” (1 John 2:28).

What are you doing with your life that is going to make a difference in eternity? When you stand before the Judgement Seat of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:10), what will you be able to look back on and say, “This is what by God’s grace, I have accomplished for the kingdom of God”?

“For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life” (Proverbs 6:23).

If you were to go in to a book store, you are likely to find a host of books telling you how you can be successful. They promise you health, wealth, and a multitude of other blessings if you will only buy their book and apply their principles. They lure millions of people every year into false concepts of success that are not only unbiblical but are extremely dangerous. The tragedy is that many of these false concepts have been accepted by well-meaning Christians.

Many today believe the unbiblical concept that “in order to be successful, you must overcome every obstacle that is between you and your desired goal.”

If the goals we are pursuing are not God’s goals for our life, then He will lovingly place obstacles in our path. These obstacles are referred to in Scripture as “reproofs.” The purpose of His reproofs are to protect us from the heartaches brought about by our wrong decisions (Psalm 10:22). They are designed to cause us to repent and to turn and follow His Ways of life and blessing (Proverbs 1:23).

These reproofs come in many different ways. God can reprove us financially by withholding funds or by giving us an abundance (Psalm 106:15). Sometimes we experience reproofs in the form of conflicts in our relationships (Proverbs 16:7). Members of the Church in Corinth suffered health issues (1 Corinthians 11:30). These can all be forms of God’s reproofs.

Many have spent long, hard years working to be successful and in the process have lost some of their greatest assets such as their family and their health.

Success is not measured by the amount of money that you earn; but by building your life around the eternal principles of God Word.

“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed” (Proverbs 13:20).

There are five different Hebrew words for five different kinds of fools spoken of in the Bible. These five fools progress from one who is basically just naive and doesn’t understand the cause-and-effect relationships of life, to one who is totally reprobate and depraved.

The Hebrew word that describes the latter is nabal (naw-BAWL) and it’s found in Psalm 14:1 where it says, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” This is the most dangerous kind of fool. The committed fool has come a long way (the wrong way) from his days of simple naivety and lack of understanding.

The committed fool has no fear of God. He is a reprobate with a vile mind and a totally defiled and depraved conscience who is skilled in arguing against right and for wrong. He will argue and defend evil and ungodliness.

If you allow one of the upper level fools to be around one of these lower level fools, the lower fool will pull him down to his level. If you allow a simple fool to be around a silly fool, the silly fool will pull the simple fool down and make him worse. If you allow a silly fool to be around a sporting fool, the sporting fool will pull the silly fool down to his level of foolishness. If you allow a scorning fool around any of these other three… Do you get the picture?

Always combine these medicines with regular exercises, stress controlling therapies and cheap tadalafil india sex-boosting foods. The simple fool is basically immature. All of us have fallen into this category at some point. Even new or weak Christians who don’t understand the cause-and-effect relationships of life would be considered simple fools. If you put a simple young man in a high school or college class room with a committed fool professor, the inevitable will happen! And it is happening at an alarming rate. A recent study has shown that 2/3 of conservative, evangelical young people will leave the church in their 20′s.

That’s why as parents, we need to be involved in the lives of our sons and daughters – protecting them, training them, and helping to take them to new levels of maturity.

The silly fool despises wisdom and instruction. He doesn’t want anyone telling him what to do. The sporting fool describes someone who is involved in all kinds of evil and sensuality, and it’s just sport to him. His goal in life is his own immediate pleasure.

The progression gets worse – the fourth kind of a fool is a SCORNING FOOL. The Hebrew word for “scorning fool” is luwts (loots). Proverbs 13:1 says, “A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.” The scorning fool despises rules. He disdains authorities and standards, and openly mocks and ridicules those he disagrees with.

I would suggest that this is where many people are at today in our postmodern society. There has been a widespread rejection of absolute truth and an embracing of that which is repugnant to God. Biblical standards are not only rejected but are openly mocked by those in the media, academia, and by many in political office.

Next in this downward progression of foolishness is the SPORTING FOOL. The Hebrew word is keciyl (kess-eel). It occurs in Proverbs 10:23 – “It is as sport to a fool to do mischief…” This describes someone who is involved in all kinds of evil and sensuality, and it’s just sport to them. Proverbs 13:19 says, “…it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.” They enjoy their wickedness. It would be considered an abomination to them to walk away from their evil associates and activities. The sporting fool has likely not been disciplined (Proverbs 17:25). He has been left to make his own choices in life and is “…a grief to his father, and a bitterness to her that bare him” (Proverbs 17:25). This type of fool should be avoided at all costs, because he is actively seeking to lead astray those who follow him. Scripture warns that “… a companion of fools (keciyl) shall be destroyed” (Proverbs 13:20).

The progression is getting worse. Perhaps there are people that you know and they fit into one of these categories. You need to be careful to choose your friends and to teach your children to choose their friends wisely.

There is a progression from the simple fool to the SILLY FOOL.

The Hebrew word for “silly fool” is eviyl (ev-eel) which literally means “thick.” It refers to someone who is thick headed. The word is found in Proverbs 1:7 where it says, “Fools despise wisdom and instruction.” That’s the silly fool. They don’t want to listen. The silly fool despises anyone telling him what to do. You can’t argue with him because he believes that he is right and everyone else is wrong (Proverbs 12:15). He rejects counsel and advice. You try to give it to him – but he “despises” it.

God wants to spare us from these heartaches which are the natural consequence of sin – that’s why He has given us His principles of life in Scripture. These principles are the very opposite of our natural inclinations (Proverbs 3:5; Isaiah 55:8-9). The silly fool rejects them outright.

What happens when a simple fool is around a silly fool is that the silly fool will pull the simple fool down to his level. That’s why we need to be on our guard as parents – guiding and teaching our children not only how to choose the right kind of friends, but also how to be the right kind of friend to others.

“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed” (Proverbs 13:20).

Many years ago, as I sat in a Sunday school class in Belfast, Northern Ireland, I learned that a friend who attended the same Sunday school had decided not to return to church. I remember thinking that would never happen to me. But within a year, I was in a worse spiritual condition than my friend – and it all began with a choice of wrong friendships. My closest friends had no time for God and no thought for eternity, and it wasn’t too long before I picked up on their value system.

It is so important to surround yourself with the right kind of friends – especially if you are a new or a weak Christian. Helping your children choose the right kind of friends is also critical for their success.

There are five different Hebrew words for five different kinds of fools spoken of in the Bible. These five fools progress from one who is basically just naive and doesn’t understand life, to one who is totally reprobate and depraved.

The first kind of fool is a SIMPLE FOOL. The Hebrew word for “simple fool” is pethiy (peth-ee). It occurs nineteen times in the Old Testament including Proverbs 27:12 – “A prudent man forseeth the evil and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.” That’s the simple fool.

The problem with the simple fool is that he is immature and doesn’t understand the cause-and-effect sequences in life and the danger that is coming his way because of the choices he has made.

You cannot obey God’s Word without being blessed; but you cannot ignore or disobey His Word without there being consequences in your life and in your relationships with others.

The simple fool doesn’t understand this concept. When he begins to experience the reproofs of life, he just thinks he’s having a spate of bad luck. But there’s no such thing as bad luck. Our lives are not governed by chance but by our attitude and response to the eternal truth of God’s Word.

Help your children to understand this principle of life. Teach them wisdom by helping them to see the cause-and-effect relationships around them and by sharing examples from your own life and the life messages of others.

“Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered” (1 Peter 3:7).

Many Christians argue that God answers every prayer with a “yes,” “no,” or “wait.” But that’s a very shallow way of dealing with the problem of unanswered prayer.

God sometimes delays or denies a particular request because he has something better He wants to give us. Even these are still forms of answered prayer. But the Bible teaches that there are times when God doesn’t hear or answer our prayers.

These unanswered prayers are the result of barriers that we have erected in our hearts. The problem of unanswered prayer is not God’s problem – it’s ours. Perhaps one of the most overlooked reasons for unanswered prayer is marital tension.

1 Peter 3:7 is applied directly to the Christian husband, but the same is true of the Christian wife. The Psalmist reminds us, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18). That’s a conditional truth regardless of our gender or marital status. We each have the responsibility to acknowledge, confess, and make right our wrong words, actions and attitudes. One of the consequences of failing to take responsibility for our sin is that our prayers will be hindered.

Your walk and fellowship with the Lord is no stronger, deeper or more intimate than the relationship you have with your spouse. Tension is cumulative. It will not go away until someone has the courage and foresight to deal with it Biblically.
No matter, what the reason is, all what matters is that if men are not patient but take high dose of any other drug like antidepressants amerikabulteni.com generic levitra sale and others plays a major role in disturbing the function of ED. This restricts cialis tadalafil online the person from having complete efficiency of the product. 2) The efficiency remains for a long time.
Unresolved tension should serve as a motivation – not to blame your spouse – but to search your own heart and to acknowledge your own responsibility. Wrong attitudes, anger, unkind words, and a refusal to deal with past offenses will not only destroy the spirit of your marriage but it will also affect your relationship with God and nullify your prayer life.

Your willingness to say the words – “I was wrong. Will you please forgive me?” – are key, not only to your marital happiness, but also to your ongoing fellowship and walk with God.

“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18).

A Christian recently explained how he went through a time of severe trial. He prayed that God would take the source of the trial away. But it stayed! He started blaming God and others – holding them responsible for bringing this trial into his life. This went on for years until finally he understood that the reason for his unanswered prayer was unconfessed sin in his own life; and as soon as that sin was confessed and made right, his prayer was answered.

Many Christians argue that God answers every prayer with a “yes,” “no,” or “wait.” But that’s a very shallow way of dealing with the problem of unanswered prayer.

It’s true, God sometimes delays in answering our requests. God’s timing is different than ours. When Lazarus was sick, Jesus purposely delayed his visit for two days (John 11:6) because He had a very specific plan and purpose for Lazarus’ sickness, death and subsequent resurrection.

God sometimes delays or denies a particular request because he has something better He wants to give us. Even these are still forms of answered prayer. But the Bible teaches that there are times when God doesn’t hear or answer our prayers. These unanswered prayers are not caused by His inability to respond, but are the result of barriers that we have erected in our hearts. The problem of unanswered prayer is not God’s problem – it’s ours.

I received a letter from a gentleman who stated that he had become disillusioned with the Christian life. After becoming a Christian and having attended an evangelical church for over ten years, he has come to the conclusion that the last time God did anything was 2000 years ago. Like many Christians, this man’s relationship with God has been shallow, his prayer life has been powerless, and he has consequently assumed that God’s inactivity in his life is entirely God’s fault and nothing at all to do with him.

But the Psalmist reminds us in Psalm 66:18, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” We cannot live the Christian life with unconfessed sin, unresolved anger and bitterness, and impure hearts, and still expect God to hear and answer our prayers.

Proverbs 28:13 instructs us, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

“Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord…” (James 5:7).

Perhaps you’ve uttered the prayer: “Lord, give me patience; and I want it right now!”

It comes from the Greek word MAKROTHUMIA. It’s a compound word. MAKROS – meaning “long” or “far” and THUMOS – meaning “anger.” You’ve heard of the expression “short-tempered” – patience could very well be described as being “long-tempered.”

The New Testament Christians that James was writing to were under tremendous pressure. Not only were they facing persecution for claiming name of Christ; but in their impatience, they were also tempted to compromise God’s Word. James says, “Be patient!” How long? “…unto the coming of the Lord.”

These threescore and ten plus years we have on this planet are so short compared to the vastness of eternity. Do we have trials? Yes. Is there persecution? Yes. Are their heartaches? Yes. Is there suffering? Yes – but only for a season.

The reason why James mentions the Second Coming is because patience can never be learned apart from hope. Paul says in Titus 2:13, “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.”

Perhaps you’ve heard the true story of Hachi, the faithful dog who waited every day at the train station for his master’s return. One day his master didn’t return, but that didn’t stop Hachi from making that same trip day after day hoping to see his master. The dog didn’t realize his master would never return; we know for certain ours will!

Definition of patience: “Accepting a difficult situation from the Lord without giving Him a deadline to remove it.”

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief” (1 Timothy 1:15).

John Newton wrote, “When I get to heaven, I shall see three wonders there. The first wonder will be to see many there whom I did not expect to see; the second wonder will be to miss many people who I did expect to see; and the third and greatest wonder of all will be to find myself there.”

John Newton – who wrote one of the church’s most beloved hymns, Amazing Grace – knew what he was talking about.

There are many who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior but who have never progressed further in their walk with God. Although saved by grace through faith, their lives give little or no indication that they are on their way to heaven. Call them backsliders or carnal Christians or whatever, it is these that 1 John 2:28 says will be ashamed at the return of Christ. No “Well done good and faithful servant” for these – only shame and regret for a life wasted and opportunities lost.

Others who give the appearance that they are on their way to heaven will likely be shocked when they enter eternity and realize that the very things that they trusted in for salvation were unable to save their souls. Religion, church attendance, baptism, good works can never merit us a place in heaven. The Bible says that all of our “righteousnesses” – good works – in God’s sight are as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). The Bible says, “…there is none that doeth good, no not one” (Romans 3:12).

“For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away…” (Malachi 2:16).

The consequences of divorce is not limited to just the two people involved. It also has a detrimental affect upon children, churches, and society as a whole.

Many marriages are built upon nothing more than emotion. When difficulties arise and the emotion disappears, they have nothing to fall back on and they consequently divorce. Their reasoning is that since they are having difficulties, it would be better – for all involved – to end the relationship. But everyone has difficulties. Paul says, “But and if thou marry…such shall have trouble in the flesh” (1 Corinthians 7:28). Marriage problems are to be expected. They are inevitable. That is the reason why marriage must be viewed as a covenant rather than a contract.

A contract is a legal agreement between two people and can be voided by mutual consent if problems arise; but a covenant is a spiritual commitment between you and God and that other person. A covenant has no escape clauses. Marriage is a covenant – not a contract.

A covenant marriage understands that even when the emotions disappear, your commitment to that marriage makes you stay. Difficulties can be worked through. They can even serve to make your marriage stronger. Divorce is never the Biblical answer to solving marriage problems. Divorce creates its own unique set of problems that are often much worse than the first.

Russian-born Helen Richards told in a radio interview how she was placed in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. She described the terrible horrors of that place. After she was released, she met an American serviceman, and the two of them were married. They were married for 24 years when her husband had an affair, abandoned her; and then he asked her for a divorce. She said, “The hardest thing I’ve ever been through in my life was that divorce. I’ve been through a Nazi concentration camp and a divorce, and I have to say, honestly, the divorce was the more terrible of the two experiences.” Isn’t that incredible?

Don’t even consider walking away from your marriage. The consequences are far greater than you may realize. If you are experiencing difficulties, get help! But stay true to that commitment you made before God and determine to work through those difficulties Biblically.

A strong marriage is not the result of emotions or hormones; it’s the natural consequence of genuine love, respect, forgiveness and a host of other Christlike qualities learned along the way.

“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment” (Mark 12:30).

One well known Pastor has said, “We will not stir the embers of old fashioned revival nor return to a moral society, until we have a revival in the home.”

If there is a need in our land today, it is a need for a revival within the Christian homes! I cannot over emphasize the importance that the Bible places on the home, on marriage, on parenting; yet our society today – and to some extent, the church – considers them of little value.

Our homes are not places of security and love where our children can find shelter and protection from the world. The Bible calls children “a blessing” but we have called them a nuisance, an inconvenience, and a financial liability. Marriages are no longer a lifetime commitment; and even in homes where couples stay together – for many, holy wedlock has turned into an unholy deadlock!

As our society moves farther away from Biblical values, we have a tendency to despair for our children and our grandchildren. We are fearful for their future. But the Bible has answers to the problems we may be facing even in today’s society.

Immediately after the collapse of the Iron Curtain in Eastern Europe, I had the opportunity for some short ministry visits to the country of Bulgaria. I talked with a Pastor from the city of Varna on the Black Sea coast. This man had pastored a church in a society that was bent on destroying Christianity. He and members of his congregation had been arrested and persecuted for their faith. I asked him, “How many of the young people in your church rebel against Christianity?” In a church of over 400 people, he said, “None!” He didn’t know of a single child in his congregation that had rebelled against the authority of their parents and against the teaching of God’s Word.

These parents didn’t have the plethora of Christian literature on marriage and parenting that we have. They didn’t have a local Christian radio station giving Biblical guidance and advice. They had the Bible and they followed it as best they could. Their children saw the reality of their parent’s commitment to Jesus Christ. They understood that they were not just playing with religion but that they loved God with all their hearts.

You see, you can rear your children, even in a society that is bent towards destroying Christian values. We may not have all the answers, but what is important is our love for the Lord and our commitment to following His Word whatever the cost.

People ask, “What is the most important thing I can do for my children?” Love God with all your heart, and soul, and mind, and strength! Let them see the reality of your commitment to Jesus Christ in the home.

“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife” (Genesis 2:24).

Modern marriages have coined a phrase “as long as we both shall love.” Do you know what God says? – “As long as you both shall live.” Marriage is the only permanent human relationship that God ever established (Romans 7:2; 1 Corinthians 7:39).

Divorce has become so common – even among Christians – that many use the threat of divorce as a way of controlling the behavior of their spouse. Never threaten your partner with divorce. Nothing can damage the spirit of a marriage more than the threat of divorce.

Jesus even gave a direct command and warning not to be involved in any way in helping to break up a marriage. Mark 10:9 and Matthew 19:6 both record the same identical statement of Jesus: “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” Jesus is telling us that everyone who has the opportunity should actively work to help support and strengthen marriages.

That means if you know friends or family members who are experiencing difficulties in their marriage, don’t encourage them to divorce. There may be situations, especially if there is physical abuse, where there needs to be a time of separation; but this is only so you can encourage them to seek help and to work through their problems and begin to rebuild their relationship!

“Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?” (Galatians 3:3).

The book of Galatians is a written defense of the Gospel of the grace of God. The Gospel had come under attack by a number of false teachers who had invaded the Galatian church. They emphasized the necessity of works for salvation and were trying to bring the Galatian believers back into the bondage of legalistic religion from which they had been freed by the Gospel.

The Galatians believers began their Christian walk by faith and in chapter three, Paul asks if they were so foolish as to think that they could go on to spiritual maturity in any other way?

The false teachers taught that it was only possible to attain spiritual maturity by means of the law. Paul implied that since they began the Christian life by faith they should continue toward maturity in the same way.

Whenever a child is born he has all that he needs for life; nothing needs to be added. All that is necessary for that child to grow to maturity is food, exercise, and cleansing.

Whenever a child of God is born into God’s family, he has all that he needs spiritually and there is nothing that needs to be added. All that is necessary for that child of God to grow to spiritual maturity is for spiritual food, exercise, and cleansing.

He is fed spiritually through reading, studying, memorizing and meditating upon the Word of God. 1 Peter 2:2 states: “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.” A lack of spiritual appetite for the Word may be an indication of spiritual sickness (unconfessed sin) or it may be because we have replaced the Word with the “junk food” of life which ruins our spiritual appetite.

He is cleansed spiritually by allowing the Word of God to expose sin in his life, by keeping short accounts with God, and by asking forgiveness of those that he has wronged and offended.

There is nothing that we need in addition to faith in Christ for salvation. We are saved by grace through faith. It is in exactly the same manner that we grow to spiritual maturity. Don’t be content with where you are in your walk with the Lord. Press on towards spiritual maturity.

“Looking unto Jesus…” (Hebrews 12:2).

The writer of the book of Hebrews includes a little phrase in the twelfth chapter which expresses the entire secret of the Christian life. Hebrews 12:2 says, “Looking Unto Jesus…”

The word “looking” is a translation of an untranslatable Greek word. It means to fix our gaze upon Him, and to turn it away from everything else. We are to look unto Jesus and at nothing else – certainly not at our enemies

Do you know what happens if we are continually thinking about our enemies? We will become just like them.

Whenever we’ve been wronged or hurt or offended by someone, there is a tendency for us to wallow in our hurt and have a pity party. Then we start to think about the person behind that offense and we become bitter.

We tend to focus emotionally upon the person who has offended us. This focus causes us to become just like the person we resent because we are continually being shaped to the object of our focus. If our life revolves around the person of the Lord Jesus Christ (which is what God wants) then we will become more like Him. If our focus is upon those who have offended us, then we will become more and more like them in our attitudes.

Jesus said, “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).

So much time and energy is wasted by focusing on the people and circumstances behind our hurts. Life is too short to stay bitter and angry. Consider Jesus – as He hung upon that cross and looked down at the men that had driven those nails into His body, He said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”

Looking unto Jesus…and not at our enemies.

We are to look unto Jesus and at nothing else – certainly not at our troubles or circumstances.

David’s circumstances were less than ideal. Just a few days before he was established as king, we are told that “David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him…but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God” (1 Samuel 30:6).

Satan often brings to us the greatest discouragements just before God is about to intervene and bring blessing. That’s why Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

There are at least two ways that we – like David – can encourage our hearts in the Lord when faced with troubles and discouragement.

First, spend more time reading God’s Word — especially the book of Psalms. Many of David’s Psalms especially are written from the perspective of overwhelming discouragement and help us to see God’s perspective on life.

Shilajit has aphrodisiac, rejuvenating cialis line order and anti-aging properties. Having a good sexual relationship is cost viagra online a key to successful organizational learning. During my first year in the ministry, a member of our congregation was terminally ill in hospital. On one particular occasion when I went to visit him, he was troubled and discouraged, and nothing the hospital staff would do could calm him down. Not knowing what else to do, I started reading to him from the Psalms. Even the hospital staff were amazed at how the reading of God’s Word had such a powerful calming affect upon this man’s spirit.

Secondly, meditate on God’s Word – especially at night when it seems that the enemy brings the most discouraging thoughts to our minds. David said in Psalm 63:5-6 “My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.”

Paul wrote the book of Philippians from a Roman prison. Added to that was the uncertainty that at any moment a Roman soldier could take his life. From a human perspective, Paul had ample reason to be discouraged. But there is not a trace of discouragement in the whole epistle. Instead it’s filled with “peace” and “joy.” Paul writes: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8).

The last thing you think about at night is usually the first thing you think about the next morning – so fix your mind upon the life-giving truths of God’s Word rather than the destructive lies of the enemy.

What does a Christian ever learn from the world that has helped us have stronger marriages and families?

We learn that divorce is the solution to marriage problems.

We learn to hold a grudge and become bitter rather than forgiving those that have wronged us.

We learn that the way to get ahead in business is to cheat and lie and take advantage of other people.

Although we are very much in the world, the Lord Jesus made it very clear that we “are not of the world” (John 17:16). The Christian should be like a boat in water. As long as the boat remains in the water it’s fine. But if the water gets in the boat then disaster is imminent. Scripture teaches that although the Christian is in the world, he should not allow the world with all its humanistic and immoral philosophies to enter and pollute his life.

Christians who are truly serious about living for Jesus Christ will not try to see how close they can get to the world and still be considered a good Christian. Instead, they will distance themselves from the world in order to draw close to Jesus Christ.

“Looking unto Jesus…” (Hebrews 12:2).

The word “looking” is a translation of an untranslatable Greek word. It means to fix our gaze upon Him, and to turn it away from everything else. We are to look unto Jesus and at nothing else – certainly not at ourselves.

There is nothing in ourselves that even merits God’s love and yet He loves us. We have sinned and rebelled against God and yet the Bible says that, “…God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Jesus died in our place. He took the punishment we deserve. That’s the message of the Gospel. We owed a debt we couldn’t pay. He paid a debt He didn’t owe.

When we get to heaven, there is nothing that we will be able to boast about in ourselves. We won’t be able to say, I’m here today because of what a good person I was, or because I attended a certain church, or because I was baptized. Our only boast in heaven will be, I am here today because God loved me and He sent His Son to die for me.

“Looking unto Jesus…” (Hebrews 12:2).

As we look in the Scriptures, we find that the teaching of Jesus is our instruction for living the Christian life. It’s not a matter of becoming a Christian and just doing our own thing. The Lord Jesus Christ has standards and instructions for every area of our lives.

Every decision we make needs to be based squarely upon the Word of God.

Life is held together by a very intricate series of cause-and-effect relationships. You can’t obey the teachings of Christ without being blessed. You cannot disobey them without there being consequences. And in every area of life where we disobey or ignore the teachings of Christ there will be resulting conflicts and problems.

I’ve come to the conclusion that very few people actually want Biblical counsel. It’s very easy to help people who are desperate and are longing for a closer walk with God. It’s impossible to help people that merely want a resolution of their conflicts.

Parents want help with troubled youth but not enough to change their own wrong attitudes. People want help with their marriage but not enough to take responsibility for their own sin and say, “I was wrong. Will you please forgive me?”

So often we base our decisions and actions on feelings or preferences rather than on the rock solid teaching of God’s Word.

It doesn’t matter what you or I think, or even what our favorite author or radio preacher says – it matters what the Bible says. That’s all that matters. That means we need to be men and women of the Word and we need to live not according to opinions or preferences but we need to live by Biblical standards. We need to forgive even when we don’t feel like it. We need to be honest when it would be easier to lie or cheat.

Don’t allow the enemy to distract and fool you with his lies. Dedicate yourself afresh to the authority of God’s Word.

“Looking unto Jesus…” (Hebrews 12:2).

As we look in the Scriptures, we find that the character of Jesus is our pattern for the Christian life. God’s plan for each of our lives is for us to become more and more like Jesus (Romans 8:28-29). This entire process of making us more like Christ is known as sanctification.

God wants us to be meek like Jesus is meek. He wants us to be humble just like Jesus is humble. He wants us to be kind like Jesus is kind. In fact, the areas of conflict that we experience in our lives can help us to identify specific character qualities that we are lacking and that God is patiently working to develop in us. One of the best ways to understand the problems and conflicts we experience is in relation to Christ-like character.

God is determined to build in each one of us the character of His Son. That’s why He has given us the brothers and sisters and other family members that we have. If we react to them and reject them and become bitter, then God will bring others into our lives that will offend or annoy us in those very same ways – because God is determined to teach us those beautiful Christ-like qualities such as kindness, forgiveness, meekness and patience.

“Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13).

Our society gives tests before you can get into certain jobs. If you pass the test you may get the job; if you don’t, you’ve got to go somewhere else. Have you noticed that we don’t give any tests for something as significant as marriage? What is more important – being successful in a job of having a successful family?

A wise parent will begin early to teach their children character and will be constantly evaluating where their children are at and what character qualities they need to develop. Think about the children that God has blessed you with. Do they have the necessary character traits to have a successful marriage and a successful life?

Do they know how to yield their rights and give in, or are they constantly arguing and fighting so that they can have things their way?

Do they know how to forgive, or are they angry and bitter toward others who have hurt or offended them in the past?

Most conflicts in marriage, church or the workplace can be traced back to the absence of needed character qualities.

If a young man is not kind and loving to his mother and his sisters, he will be unkind and selfish toward his wife and they will experience all kinds of tension in their relationship as a result.

Teaching Godly character should be the goal of every Christian parent. And if you have young children especially, your main goal is not to teach 1+1=2. Your main goal is to teach your children the character of Christ.
